The main character's voice is played by Cary Elwes and he doesn't disappoint. I've seen just about every movie with Cary Elwes in it and most of them are slapstick movies which made the fact that he voiced this game a bigger buying point for me.
In this game you don't just smash barrels for loot, most of the things you see in the game are destructible, but most of the time there is absolutely no loot in them. The weapons, items and armors that you can get in the game are awesome as well, and the whole game revolves around the fact that you, the main character, are a bard so your main weapons are musical instruments that deal out different types of damage that has a wide range of effects on your enemies.
Another aspect of this game that I liked is that you are not motivated by saving the well endowed damsel in distress unless there's some coin behind it. The main character doesn't do anything for anyone in the game unless he can get paid to do it. With other action-adventure games when you are given an assignment it usually involves a little money, but it has to do more with completing the objectives in the game such as the story line, but in The Bard's Tale your only purpose is to collect as much money as you can while helping people as little as you can! Which is a nice change from the ordinary game where you must help people and you must do what the game says or there will be bad results when you get later in the game.
This game is exciting and extremely fun to play with the amazing voice work of Cary Elwes. This game is a must have for action-adventure enthusiast and for anyone looking for a challenging, but very fun game. I had many hours of fantastic play with this game and I hope you will to!
