Video Game Review: Battlefield 2: Modern Combat for the Xbox 360

Battlefield 2: Modern Combat is one of the most fun games that I have played for the Xbox 360. The game gives you two modes: Single player and Multiplayer.

With the single player mode you play campaigns of blood filled carnage. There were several times during this game where I had to restart the same mission over and over again due to the high difficulty level I subjected myself to. One the standard levels of difficulty the amount of challenge increases as the game progresses as with any other game, but when you but the game on the highest difficulty level you begin to immediately die and start to get ever more frustrated with the game. If you stick with it though, you will be able to master the game and rise to the highest ranks.

The game offers many benefits when you level up such as better weapons, increased carrying capacity and the all important military rankings which show you how well you are doing in the game. When you start off you are a lowly private at the end of the game you rise to take your spot as the highest honored general in the military. The single player aspect of the game is fun; however I believe that most people have bought this game for the multiplayer action.

The graphics in this game are not as good as they are in Call of Duty 2 but they are still some of the best graphics that I have seen in a shooter in a while. The sound is right on par with the rest of the shooters and it doesn't disappoint as well.

The multiplayer in the game is suburb with little to no lag that I experienced during my many hours of game play. The military ranking system in the multiplayer is the same as in the single player, but with a kick. The kick is the achievement factor on the Xbox 360. Repair 5 allied vehicles in a mission using the Blowtorch, at least 1/3rd armour must be repaired.

Kill 4 enemies with one clip of a sniper rifle.

Kill 10 enemies using air based vehicles without losing the multiplier.

As you can see the achievements are rather difficult for this game and in my experience it took many, many hours to complete them and I still haven't got all of them!!

I have enjoyed so many hours of fantastic gameplay with my friends with this game and I will continue to buy this franchise. I just hope that everyone out there goes and at least rents a copy of this game it is well worth it!!
