The Warriors game shows many aspects of the film. It also shows how the warriors originally came together (red vests and all) and events that led up to the film. Many of the scenes in the game are exactly like the scenes in the film! This game is proving to be one of the best games inspired by a movie!
The Warriors is not just about street brawls and gang loyalty. It also has various side missions. This involves mugging; breaking into cars, tagging rival gang's turf, lock picking, purchasing your much needed narcotics, and more!
While fighting with your rivals, you can use hand to hand combat or weapons. All of your moves are quite viscous. There are about a dozen different ones to choose from. The controls for performing these take down moves are very precise and responsive.
The graphics of this game are right on the market with the details and looks of the year 1979. However, the character models are a bit on the smudgy side. The voice acting is good; however, at times it does not coincide properly with the character's lip movement. As for the musical score, it is 70's disco and rock themed.
The majority of the game is to be played in story mode. Once you defeat story mode, you will unlock various other modes. One of the best is the rumble mode, which is great for 2 players. Rumble mode has loads of unlockable mini-games. 2 player co-op play is available in story mode. However, if you play in this manner you will have to deal with a split screen. It makes it very hard for both players to see what they are doing, let alone what is in their field of vision.
The Warriors is available on Playstation 2 or XBOX. The ESRB rating is M for mature. This is because the game features blood, sexual themes, intense violence, strong language, and the use of drugs and alcohol. This means you "kiddies" cannot purchase it without the help of mommy and daddy! A strategy guide is available for those of you who need a little help!
