In the world of Twitter and other social networking enterprises along with Family Guy, the show that pokes fun at all pop culture from the forgotten to the well known, it will likely be no surprise if a certain music video becomes a viral this week.
That video is "Dancin' in the Street" by David Bowie and Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones, as seen on the Family Guy episode on the evening of May 15, 2011.
The video shows both stars doing exactly what the title suggests in many different locations in a video that embodies just about everything the 80's stood for all in one clip.
The video was played in the second half of the episode and seemed to break up the flow of it and the plot; nevertheless, people are still talking about it for its campy appeal. Many music geeks had known about the video for years but the Family Guy placement seems to be a good chance to raise its popularity much more.
It could even become something of a "Rick Roll" type of music video phenomenon if it gains more momentum and people begin to talk about it a lot in the coming days.
The video is similar to other Family Guy moments including a long clip of singer Conway Twitty that caught fans by surprise. What is lost in pacing of the show is made up in terms of the ability to get people talking.
So, what do you think about the Family Guy video of Mick Jagger and David Bowie in "Dancin' in the Street?" Was it another example of Family Guy's trademark "anything goes" comedy style shining through or just an annoyance in an otherwise good episode?
