(Video) Yoko Ono Opposed to Parole for Mark David Chapman (Duh!)

Hartley Engel
Mark David Chapman, the deranged madman who murdered John Lennon nearly 30 years ago, is up for parole next month. Not surprisingly, Yoko Ono, Lennon's widow, is opposed to the idea. Reuters reports that Ono has submitted a letter of protest to the parole board every two years since 2000, when Chapman became eligible for parole. Here is an excerpt from that letter (it has not been confirmed whether or not the same letter was sent this time around, however): "I am afraid it will bring back the nightmare, the chaos and confusion once again. Myself and John's two sons would not feel safe for the rest of our lives."

I vividly recall the day John Lennon was murdered. Being a huge Beatles fan, I was heartbroken. It was so tragic, so senseless, so unfathomable. It was a nightmare indeed. I couldn't agree more with Yoko Ono. It would be absurd to grant parole to Chapman. It's a no brainer: he needs to stay locked up for the rest of his life. Below is an excerpt from a chilling 1992 interview with Mark David Chapman.

Chapman is an assassin and as such I'm at a lose to understand by any sentencing would include the possibility of parole.

Our judicial system, while playing by a better set of rules than many others in the world, can be just as dice and unpredictable when handing sentences however.

    I'd be opposed too!
