With so many types of CD and DVD roms out there it can be difficult to find the one you are looking for. This video will go over the different types of CD roms and DVD roms and show you how to hook them up to your computer. The process for installing a DVD rom or a CD rom to your computer is quite possibly the easiest part of upgrading your computer. The main thing to note when purchasing a new CD rom or DVD rom is the connection type. In the video we only cover IDE ribbon cable connections. More recent computers come equipped with SATA ports on the motherboard. CD roms and DVD roms typically come as either IDE or SATA and the connections are not universal. Be sure your computers motherboard supports the CD rom or DVD rom connection type you're wanting to purchase.
