Chinese New Year and Lantern Festival
Traditional Celebrations
Lantern Festival marks the end of the Chinese New Year celebrations. Traditionally, people walked around visiting family and friends carrying lighted lanterns. Today, large lanterns in a variety of shapes are built in public spaces. In addition, many people will write wishes on large paper lanterns, light a fire underneath, and let their wishes be carried away.
