Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad Livery Painted on Diesel Locomotive in Cheyenne, Wyoming
At Union Pacific Railroad Yard
On March 22, 2009, this diesel locomotive was spotted at the Union Pacific rail yard in Cheyenne, Wyoming with Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad livery. In the video, I say the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad was taken over by the Union Pacific Railroad, but that isn't quite right. The Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad was first taken over by the Southern Pacific Railroad, which was eventually taken over by the Union Pacific Railroad.

Post a CommentMr. Barnes, Love to see there is at least one still out there. My uncle worked for the D&RGWRR back in the fifties and sixties. I am a fine art painter and I'm looking for any information about the final March 31, 1980 run of the Rock island into Denver. Specifically, I'm looking fro eyewitness accounts, weather info (the train battled through a terrible blizzard), and what units pulled the train that day (red&yellow, or the blue&white). If you know anything about this event or know someone who might, I'd appreciate some help. I'm planning a painting depicting the event. Thanks for your kind consideration in this matter. Hope to hear from you soon. M
