Making Caramel and Pecan Chocolate Turtles, Chocolate Nut Cluster and Nut Bark

Hardware Needed: Med pot Med steel bowl Spoon Rolling pin Baking sheet Parchment Waxed Paper Paper candy cups Ingredients: 2 cups chocolate chips 2 tbs shortening 90 Pecan halves, 5 for each 18 Caramel squares 1 1/2 cups nuts Caramel and Pecan Chocolate Turtles Recipe Preheat oven to 350 F. Form turtles body, 5 pecan halves in star shapes on a parchment paper coated baking sheet. The 5 pecans form the candy turtle's legs and head. Flatten caramel squares with rolling pin or cylinder until flattened enough to cover the almost all of the turtle, leave pecan showing to resemble legs and head. Repeat until the baking sheet is filled with turtle bodies. Bake in preheated oven until caramels are soft to form a sold body base then remove from oven. Spoon blobs of melted chocolate covering caramels.
