Opening of Mazaher's Concert
Mazaher is a folk music which fuses Egyptian, Muslim, and Eastern African musical traditions. This video is meant to compliment my previous article on Folk and African music in Cairo (http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/994796/folk_and_african_music_in_cairo.html?cat=16) but can be viewed as a stand-alone video. Zar, the form of music being sung here, is female-oriented and geared toward expression and healing in a male-dominated world.
