I can't believe you are keeping your rat in that type of living condition!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

1.It is WAY WAY WAY WAY too small for a pet rat. they need a very large cage with multiple levels and bars because they love to climb

2.The cage you are using is poorly venelated. rats NEED a large wire cage with good venelation. they are very prone to respitory infections

3.Rats can EASLILY chew through a plactic tub! I mean really

4.I see the bedding you are using is newpaper. FYI newspaper is TOXIC to ratties!!!!

5.No rat should be kept like that. I would totally reccommend doing lots of research about getting it a companion. rats are highly social and it is a necessity for them to be kept in a pair of TWO OR MORE. please be open about getting another compaion and going through the introduction proccess of adding a friend

GET A BIG, MULTI-LEVEL WIRE CAGE AND A COMPANION FOR YOUR RAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I keep three rats in a large, four-level cage and in a nice spot in my living room. Rats need a large cage and should always have at least one companion. They're social animals. Since they don't live all that long, only two to four years, I keep three. That way, if one dies I still have two, until I get a third. Also, introducing a new rat is a long project, so always keep another cage handy. They all have different personalities. I've only been bitten once, in trying to stop a fight. Sometimes they do fight, but let them, as long as they don't actually hurt each other. There is normally, but not always, a dominating rat and he/she has to defend that authority. An older rat will sometimes be challenged for TopRat. That will bring a brief flurry of blows. If no blood, let them fight. A few minutes later, they'll be sleeping together. As for feeding, experiment. Check the Internet for a list of foods they shouldn't be given, but they'll eat almost anything but meat.

What a nice Rat. He looks a lot like my rat Mickey. It is hard to convert rat haters into rat lovers. Children always like my rats however, so maybe someday people will see that rats are the best pet rodent. They are smart, clean, love to be with their human and don't bite unless they have been mistreated or are being hurt. Most people ask, "will he bite?". I tell them that Rats that bite are called Hamsters. I love hamsters too, but they really don't care as much about interacting with me. My 6 rats are all very sweet, loving. and full of indevidual personality.
