Financial shares are higher in mid-day trading while NASDAQ (NDAQ) dominates news with a play for NYSE Euronext (NYSE). Shares of NASDAQ OMX are higher after NASDAQ and IntercontinentalExchange (ICE) made a joint proposal to acquire NYSE Euronext for $42.50 in cash and stock per NYSE Euronext share. Meanwhile, Colony Financial (CLNY) is down, after announcing the pricing of an underwritten public offering of 14,000,000 shares of common stock at a public offering price of $18.50 per share. The company is offering 13,250,000 shares of common stock and selling stockholders are offering 750,000 shares.
