Alexander & Baldwin (ALEX) shares are higher on Friday after well-known activist investor William Ackman's Pershing Square Capital disclosed that it now owns an 8.6 percent stake in the company, along with San Francisco firm Marcato Capital Management. The two companies together bought 4.1 million shares, or 9.9 percent of Alexander and Baldwin, for $168.8 million.
