VHF Radio Mayday Call, Gulf of Maine
A Sinking Commercial Fishing Boat Captain Struggles to Communicate with the Coast Guard
A commercial fishing boat working seven miles off Maine strikes an underwater object in winter and begins sinking. The captain makes a harried mayday call on channel 16 to the Coast Guard and struggles to give his loran coordinates. The two crew were rescued from their raft by the Maine Marine Patrol. VHF radios are good to have while sea kayaking, not only for emergencies but for general communications. Amazon has good prices on submersibles: http://preview.tinyurl.com/amazonvhfradio
