VideoSync is by TMPG Inc. and Pegasys and is a great software tool and encoder for downloading video to your mobile device. The system is setup to make your job as easy as drag and drop to get videos from your PC to your mobile device such as the PSP, iPod or PDA.
The system works easily by using encoders that work automatically for you, simply find the video on your PC you want to put into your mobile device and drag it to the proper box that is the device. You don't have to worry about getting the video to the correct folder in the device such as the video folder on the PSP, the program knows exactly where to put it.
I tried this out on my PlayStation Portable and it took about the same time to download the video game trailer I was using as a test than it did to completely transfer it to the PSP. It is really as simple as drag the video from the download location and place it on the PSP button and the program finds the video type, encodes it for the PSP and downloads it to the video folder for you.
VideoSync also encodes and transfers DVD type movies and videos but you need to make sure the device your downloading to has enough storage space. You will get an error if it does not have enough space on your device such as smaller memory cards on a PSP. I was able to download a smaller DVD movie on the PSP easily and quickly after finding one that was not copy protected.
VideoSync will not transfer some movies due to copy protection being on the disc so if you think you'll be transferring all those movies from your DVD library to a mobile device think again. I ran into this on one of the first small DVD's I tried to transfer. VideoSync does a great job on home movies that you can easily transfer from the file on your computer to the PSP.
In order to use the drag and drop feature you need to turn it on using the drop down menus on the task bar at the top of the main page. A short wizard will run that sets all the components of the drag and drop features such as the destination and source folders and the quality of the video your transferring that video into.
Once you set these VideoSync will remember them and use these settings every time you use the drag and drop feature. If you want to change these settings in the future simply go to the settings menu for the drop settings and reset whatever portions of the drop feature you would like.
There are also two other methods to quickly transfer videos onto your mobile device with the Template or Wizard. The Wizard will quickly transfer the video to your mobile device through a series of questions that allow you to change the quality and length of the video that you transfer.
The Template lets you encode the movie or video files you wish and transfer them when you want to your mobile device. It will save the encoded files for you in a folder on your computer so that you have them already encoded and ready to transfer now or at a later time.
There are three quality settings to you can transfer your videos; Standard, Extended Length and High Quality. Standard format simply takes the video or movie at its current format and encodes it into the format for your mobile device. The Extended Length compresses the video to save space but tries to keep the quality at a maximum for your viewing enjoyment. The High Quality reaches for a better quality video and does not worry about size.
VideoSync requires a decent computer such as a Pentium 3 with 1 GHz processor and Windows 2000 as a minimum. This program deals with video so the better your computer that can handle video the better VideoSync will work. Also memory is a factor when dealing with video so having more than the required 256 MB of Ram is recommended. You will also need DirectX 9 for some of the features and some empty hard drive space for video transferring and of course for the program.
VideoSync is a very easy to use video transfer program that automatically encodes your video for the mobile device you would like to transfer the video to. It can transfer video to a PlayStation Portable, iPod or iPhone, Play-Yan for the Nintendo DS and your PDA.
VideoSync quickly encodes the video either by simple drag and drop using previously recorded settings or you can quickly set quality and length settings in the quick wizard for easy transferring. I highly recommend VideoSync for an easy to use and quick video transfer program.
