Sitting perched up high in this tree
Fields and grass as far as I can see.
Watching and patiently I quietly wait
For any movement this hunger to abate.
Still I must sit so no creature will see
Before it's to late and recognize me.
There's a little rabbit scurrying around,
Unknown to him the danger that abounds.
Quickly I swoop, my talons spread wide
Downward diving in his direction I glide.
Looking up at me, I see terror in his eyes
Too late, little one, because I rule the skies.

Great poem Pattie, but ahhh...I been staring at the tree pic you posted for 5 minutes and I don't see that damned hawk! Sucker must have great camo too!lol And Jennifer, your husband saw a hawk catch a bat? Wow! On the wing? How cool. Hawks do rule.
We have two hawks in our park. We know when they're around because the squirels hide!
Poor little one. That's nature for you. By the way haven't been getting any notices for you.
I got excited. Good poem Patty.
You capture the image well.
