Vikings Lose, Saints Win NFC Championship Game: Like Charlie Brown, Will the Vikes Always Have Lucy Holding the Ball?
As a long-suffering fan of the Vikes, I sat there watching the last few minutes of the 4th quarter and kept saying to myself, "What if it finally happens? It's been 33 years. Is it really going to happen this time?" Well, just like Charlie Brown thinking that Lucy will finally hold the ball and let him really attempt to kick it, once again my daydreams of seeing Minnesota appearing in the Super Bowl got shot to hell as the Vikings lose, Saints win. Twelve men in the huddle leads to a penalty. Brett Farve then throws an interception. Not even a field goal attempt with seconds remaining in the 4th quarter to win the NFC Championship Game to go with all the earlier choking. Had the Purple People Eaters gone a long time without any costly turnovers, when would a black cat have been tossed onto the field to stare the team down, as what happened in a September 1969 regular season game between the Cubs and Mets, a month that saw the Cubs freefall out of first place, according to Wikipedia.
But this isn't the first time the Minnesota Vikings have choked in the NFC Championship Game since the 1976 season, when they've snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory. Best example: the 1998 season when the Vikings had a 15-1 regular season. The 1998 NFC Championship Game saw the Purple People Eaters leading the Atlanta Falcons 27-20 late in the 4th quarter with just a bit over two minutes left, when Gary Anderson, who'd not missed one field goal kick all year, according to Wikipedia, blew a 38 yard field goal in the Metrodome that would've given the team a 10 point lead and a probable Super Bowl berth. Instead, the Atlanta Falcons got the chance to tie, which they did, and of course, the Vikings lose in overtime 30-27.
Vikings Lose, Saints Win NFC Championship Game: A Forever Curse of Choking When It Counts?
Why are the Minnesota Vikings cursed with assured choking when it's time to put up or shut up? Did dissing outdoor home play after the 1981 season "insure" a Saints win? Do the football gods hate the Vikes that much that no matter how close this team gets to a Super Bowl, it will always be Minnesota losing the NFC Championship Game?
Vikings lose. Saints win: The horror. The horror.

Post a CommentWell this is definetly been done that before with Brett farve. Remeber BRETT Farve? When you were @ Green Bay, playing the NY Giants! Interception, caused you & your team to be defeated. LoL. You're a deva, you don't need a ring. You need a princess crown! You should of retired the 1st. time. Now your nothing but a washed up disgraced, with mudd all over his face quater back. Haviving childish outburst when your coach would not give you your way! No wonder why Ted Tomphsen moved on, w/ Mike Mc Carthy, & Rogers.Because they probably did not want to deal with your behavior! I wonder what Reggie would say to you if he were here today? So Farve board the the vikings ship and sail away, so we don't have to here from you again. So we can have a peaceful media next season, & not like sands through the hr. glass so are the Days of our lives! I'm not really even a Packer fan, I just think you have the attitude of a spoiled brat, like on Willie wonka & the chocalate factory. Where one of the Omp
Sorry Roy. They really should have won this game. They definitely out-played the Saints. They doubled them in yardage, they had more first downs, and they controlled time of posession. Unfortunately they had too many turn-overs. My hubby was hopeful as well.
I actually said to my husband last night that we should just change our mascot to Charlie Brown and be done with it.
Some win, some lose. Cheers.
