Vikings Vs Steelers Decided by Steelers Defensive Touchdowns

Robert Dougherty
The Vikings vs Steelers game took a while to light up the scoreboard. But the Vikings vs Steelers was soon defined by huge plays, and big mistakes. The Vikings vs Steelers game looked like the blueprint for a typical Brett Favre comeback, as the Vikings had two chances for a go-ahead score. But the Steelers defense saved the day with two fourth-quarter interceptions for touchdowns, as the Vikings vs Steelers game gave Minnesota their first loss, and put the Steelers back on notice.

The Vikings vs Steelers match was a defensive struggle to start off, as the Vikings couldn't get going, and the Steelers lost a few opportunities for touchdowns. Heading into the fourth, the Steelers were up 13-10, and then the madness began.

The Steelers looked to put it away early in the fourth, but suffered a fumble in the red zone. The Vikings drove into the red zone, but Favre had the ball knocked out of his hands by LaMarr Woodley, who returned it for a touchdown. But the Vikings vs Steelers wasn't over yet, after Percy Harvin returned the kickoff for a touchdown - in a play where referee Richard Reels was injured.

Favre had another big chance later, as key catches by Adrien Peterson put the Vikings in the red zone again with under two minutes left. But this time, Favre threw an interception that went back for a touchdown, as Keyaron Fox ran 82 yards with a tipped ball.

The Vikings vs Steelers game showcased the kind of Minnesota mistakes they had avoided in their 6-0 start. A touchdown was negated by a penalty earlier in the game, several other penalties were called, and Favre turned the ball over in the red zone for the first time. In fact, his two mistakes decided the game for the Steelers.

The Steelers had been forgotten for a while, after their slow start and after the big early runs by the Vikings, Saints, Broncos and Colts. But after beating the Vikings, Pittsburgh is 5-2 and getting back into Super Bowl form. Meanwhile, the Vikings suffered their first setback, and have to go right into Favre Bowl II at Green Bay next week - where a loss would cut their NFC North lead to a half-game.

The Vikings vs Steelers clash was indeed the highlight of the early NFL Week 7 games - or at least the fourth quarter was. But Favre didn't have the magic this time, proving that he is still human - and that the road to the Super Bowl still runs through the Steel Curtain.
