West Virginia Hosts Villanova in a Huge Big East Basketball Game on Monday Night

Villanova vs. West Virginia on Monday night allows West Virginia a chance to earn back respect. The Villanova vs. West Virginia basketball game provides not only an opportunity for West Virginia to move up in the Big East standings, but for their fans to prove that they are capable of attending games without causing drama for their university. The Villanova vs. West Virginia game will also be broadcast live to a national audience, with ESPN giving Villanova and West Virginia that large audience that could turn into a great seeding for the 2010 NCAA Tournament. Both teams are at the top of the NCAA basketball world right now and could really use a win on Monday night.

The Villanova-West Virginia game on Monday night is definitely going to be a great game between two of the best NCAA basketball teams this season. Villanova has a 20-2 overall record (9-1 in Big East) and West Virginia has a 19-3 overall record (8-2 in the Big East). The first reason that the game is important for both teams is that it will decide the head-to-head tie-breaker should it come down to that in the Big East standings. The second important facet, is that the winner of this game notches a high-value win on their NCAA Tournament resume. Both teams still have a shot at a #1 seed in the tournament, and could increase their prestige with a win on Monday.

The other important reason that both teams want to win this game is due to how well that Syracuse is playing. Syracuse is at 23-1 overall this season, and sits in first place within the Big East so far. The game will be great, but will West Virginia be able to keep their fans under control on national television? Just last week against Pittsburgh, debris was thrown on to the court several times, made worse when a coin hit a Pitt coach later in the game. This added to the problems created when the fans chanted obscenities during a live television broadcast. West Virginia has a great team this year, and it would be terrible if the fans tried to steal away that attention again.

Tip-off for the West Virginia vs. Villanova game is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. PST (7:00 p.m. EST) with the game being broadcast on ESPN. If you are a fan of college basketball, this is a game that you should make sure to watch, because these will both be highly seeded teams in the NCC Tournament when the brackets come out in March.
