Vince Young had quite simply the best performance of his NFL career against Denver. He threw for three hundred and five yards, his first three hundred yard game. He threw one touchdown pass and ran for another. More importantly he was extremely accurate in the passing games. He did throw a couple of interceptions but they were late in the game when he was in desperation mode. He had the look of a champion and had it not been for a bad night with the teams defense, the Titans would have probably one the game.
Young proved that he could throw the ball in this game. He had several three and five step drop backs and made completions for big gains. He was accurate with the football often putting it right where it needed to be in order to complete the pass. Even more telling is that Vince had several passes dropped that should have been completed. Both Branden Jones and Roydell Williams dropped passes that looked like they were going to be touchdowns. Vince has worked with a very young group of receivers all year. He deserves more credit because he has not always gotten the help that he deserves. Another huge pass that was thrown to tight-end Bo Scaife looked to be a completion but was ruled incomplete by the officials. Despite protest form Jeff Fisher, the play was not reviewed. This kept the Titans from possibly getting big point right before half time. All of this is just evidence that Young should have been victorious on Monday night.
Vince has a poise on the field that can simply not be taught. He seems to rise to the occasion when a big game is to be played. He's done it all through out his career and is doing it again in the NFL. Young's best two games came both on Monday night in Primetime. When the lights are shining he gives his best performance.
Vince recently was quoted as saying he hears the criticism that people are giving him. Sure he has things to work on. He has only been in the league for a year and a half. It amazes me though how so many people are quick to say he will not be a great quarterback. He has started in and won more games than any quarterback that came into the league the same year he has. This includes both Jay Cutler and Matt Lineart. He was one game from making the playoffs last year and is well on pace to make the playoffs this year. Yet analysts seem to feel that others like Cutler and Lineart are more complete quarterbacks. Why? Who knows! They obviously haven't been watching Vince like everyone else has. Vince Young is a complete quarterback and he is going to continue to prove just that, for many years to come!
