In addition to the announcement about D'Onofrio, USA announced that the network has penned a deal with Dick Wolf for a new pilot. They did not release any additional information about the pilot.
Vincent D'Onofrio portrayed Detective Robert Goren for eight out of nine seasons. The actor departed the series at the end of season eight. The character was fired by his senior partner, Detective Eames (Katherine Erbe). Erbe left the series at the same time as D'Onofrio.
Detective Robert (Bobby) Goren (Vincent D'Onofrio) is an earnest detective on New York City. He has a unique talent for going inside the criminal mind, to understand the motivations for their heinous crimes. Did childhood abuse turn them into a monster? Did romantic rejection turn them into a predator? Criminal Intents goes into a very dark place, the ugly minds of people who perpetrate crimes.
Goren himself became more dark and twisted as he delved into the criminal mind. It seemed that the genius detective nearly broke from the stress of dealing with the knowledge that he possessed.
As for a personal life, Goren did not seem to have much of one. He was devoted to his mother, who died. His brother was murdered by a psychopath who was obsessed with Goren. He learned that he has a nephew, but he has gone missing.
D'Onofrio alternated episodes with Jeff Goldblum as the lead during the eighth season of Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Goldblum took the lead for the ninth season. D'Onofrio returns for the tenth and final season of Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
Law & Order: Criminal Intent airs on USA Network.

Post a CommentI am so excited that Vincent & Kathryn will be returning. They make the best team that Law & Order has ever had. I just hate that this is the final season. I wish they would film more episodes. I like all the law & Order CI's but no team has the intensity and intriguing episodes that Goren and Eames have.
Loved all series but why did they have to change? I still watch the reruns. THey are better than the new Los Angeles.
