During Tuesday night's Department of City Planning Meeting about the Comprehensive Waterfront Plan (Vision 2020), concerns were raised about inequality. Southern Brooklyn feels it's getting a raw deal. It believes you and the rest of the North are receiving preferential treatment. One complainant went so far as to call Vision 2020 a "Civil Right Issue," according to Cyburbia.

Is there validity to the complaint? What say you, Vinegar Hill?

Up until now, Vinegar Hill has been able to remain a cozy, close-knit, residential neighborhood, albeit amid Con Ed and the Navy Yards. The Waterfront Plan could bring more industry and workers into the community as well as tourists.

Will Vision 2020 change Vinegar Hill for better or worse, or not at all?

City Planning is still taking all issues into consideration before it finalizes its agenda at the end of the year. If you have any concerns about the Waterfront Plan, you may express them here: http://www.nyc.gov/html/dcp/html/cwp/submit_comment.shtml.

From the skyscrapers of NYC, I face strength. From the people of NYC, I gain understanding. And from the heart of NYC, I feel inspiration. So, I tend to write about the city quite a bit.  View profile
