Vintage Blue Jean Pocket Card for Mother's Day

This vintage blue jean pocket card is the perfect homemade Mother's Day card for kids to make. You will need to recycle some old jeans to make this fun eco friendly Mother's Day. Any size will do, but look for faded denim if possible.

Check out your own closet or even the local Goodwill to find great used denim to recycle for this card.

To Make a Vintage Blue Jean Pocket Card for Mother's Day You Will Need:

Blue Jeans

Silk Daisy

Upholstery Needle

Card Stock or Card Board

Sewing Machine or Eileen's Tacky Glue

To get started you need to buy 1 blank card from the craft store. Look for heavy duty card stock that is bigger than the pocket from the old jeans you will be using. You can also buy a coordinating envelope.

If you are trying to make this simple card form recycled materials, then try using paper bags to cover an old used card. You can cut out two pieces o paper slightly large than the card and sew them around it. It looks great!

Now, to attach the vintage jean pocket you need to cut the pocket off of the jeans. Just cut around the pocket, on the butt of the jeans about ½ inch around it. You can apply no fray if you wish.

Now, sew this onto the card stock. Sew around the edges of the fabric. You can also glue this on with a good quality glue like Eileen's Tacky glue. It works well on paper and fabric.

One glued or sewn down you can add the final touches to this shabby chic Mother's Day card. I like to simply take cool silk flower like a daisy or Gerber daisy and stick it In the pocket. You can glue it in so that is does not fall out.

Another fun idea is to take puff paint and write a message on the front of the jean pocket on the vintage Mother's Day card. The pocket will large enough to write about 4 to 5 words!

Tip: Any pocket will really do here. You can use old cargo shorts and cut off a pocket and attach them easily. Another option is to cut out a square of jean material and make a fake pocket. This is a good idea if you are making this sweet mother's day card with a group of kids and there is only one pair of old faded jeans.
