The Vintage Shop
The Vintage Shop is found in downtown Columbia, Missouri, in the heart of The District. The Vintage Shop is located at 8 South 9th Street and has more than just clothing, it also has vintage furniture. The Vintage Shop is not a used clothing store which means that you may not find the deals you would at consignment stores and that you may be paying prices a little higher because you are not only paying for a vintage piece but also paying to not have to search through a bunch of used stuff to find that vintage piece.
The Wardrobe
The Wardrobe is located just outside of The District at 715 Park Avenue. The Wardrobe is similar to a Salvation Army. It takes donations and helps many families in need. Unlike the Salvation Army, The Wardrobe is not open very often to the general public. You should call before you go down to see which days they are open that week. The Wardrobe is known in town for having more vintage clothing than places like the Salvation Army but you have to be willing to search through piles of clothes. The best part though is if you find what you want you may only have to pay 25 cents for it!
The Salvation Army
At 601 Business Loop 70 East is the Columbia, MO Salvation Army. The Salvation Army is found in many towns and is a store that takes donations. The Salvation Army is like the Wardrobe in that you may have to search through racks of clothes for the vintage clothing but it is almost always there! The Salvation Army is open to the public during regular business hours and they often have vintage furniture as well as clothing. You can expect very cheap prices at The Salvation Army. For around eleven dollars you can leave with a trash bag full of clothes.
The Blackberry Exchange
The Blackberry Exchange, located on 9th Street in The District, is a consignment store. Being a consignment shop, The Blackberry Exchange has everything from vintage to clothes bought at the mall the weekend before. One of the best parts of The Blackberry Exchange is that some of the local fashion designers buy vintage clothing and remake them into their own creations that you can then buy yourself. This is a great way to get an update to those vintage clothes. Because this is a consignment shop, the prices will be higher than what you could find at places like the Wardrobe.
Maude Vintage and Costumes
When you think vintage stores in Columbia, Missouri the first place you think of may be Maude Vintage and Costumes. Maude Vintage may have the largest collection of vintage clothing and accessories in Columbia. They are located at 810 E. Broadway in The District and are generally open every afternoon and some evenings. The most unique aspect of Maude Vintage is that you can rent costumes for you to wear. This is the best option if you want to wear a vintage outfit for a party or an outing but don't want it to take up space in your closet.
Take a day and visit the vintage stores in Columbia, Missouri and you may end up with a unique one of a kind outfit that your friends exclaim over!

Post a CommentI am becoming fascinated by vintage, as so many are. It takes a bit of flair to put together a classy vintage look, but it's fun. ;-)
I love vintage great list and article
very wonderful info, nicely written.
It sounds like you have a great selection of vintage clothing in the area. I wish we did here. Great job!
Love Vintage! Thanks for this!
I remember that place in the basement! Hmm, I'm not sure if its there anymore either!
You know I almost wrote this same article but stopped when I saw yours. Good list! However, there is a place on tenth just south the broadway in a basement that is really cool and has pretty good prices. Kind of in between Maude and the Wardrobe, but I can't remember the name. There's a really nice and weird lady that runs it...you know, I think it may be closed now.
I wish I lived in a town with a bunch of neat vintage clothing stores! I'm slightly jealous.
great job, thanks cathy
