I find vintage crochet sets although time at my local flea market. They have such great colors and are just ready to be made into a multitude of DIY sports themed projects.
You can also find nee wooden crochet sets at you local toy store, sports shops, or even Wal Mart.
To Make a Vintage Crochet Ball Floor Lamp You Will Need:
Crochet Balls
Power Drill
1 - 2 inch drill bit
Metal Plumbing pipe
Plumbing flange
Lamp kit
1 round wood disk
The first step is to cut out your wood disk. This can be cut from a simple sheet of MDF or plywood. I recommend a round disk that s at least 16 inches in diameter. This will give more stability to the base of your retro sports themed floor lamp.
Now, you will want to paint this circle out in a paint color of your choice. I think a hammer metal spray paint works great here, but use nay paint you want.
Now, use yoru power drill with a 1 to 2 inch drill bit attached and drill a hole through the center of each of the wooden crochet balls.
You will want to make as many Vintage wood crochet balls, as you want your floor lamp to be tall.
Now, once you have your vintage crochet balls drilled, measure how tall they will be when stacked vertically.
Have a piece of metal piping cut to this length. Be sure to add about three inches on to the length.
You will also wan tot buy a metal plumbing pipe that matches the width of the hole you drilled.
Now, in the middle top of the circle disk f wood you cut, screw in a plumbing flange. Screw your metal pipe into place in the flange.
Now, insert you lamp kit wiring through the pipe. Do this before you add the vintage crochet balls because they will be heavy.
Now, once the lamp wiring kit has been inserted, start adding the drilled wood crochet bless onto the pipe.
After completely covering the pipe, finish off installing your floor lamp kit.
Now, all you need to do is add a lampshade and a light bulb!
This is a n easy to make vintage sports themed floor lamp I hope you will enjoy for years to come!
