This crochet pattern is a vintage pattern that was originally published in Slippers, Star Book No. 47. The pattern has passed into public domain so you are free to use this pattern as you wish. You may also sell any slippers you make using this pattern.
Since this is a vintage pattern, the yarns suggested may no longer be available. You can substitute for any similar yarn. To crochet these loop stitch slippers, you will need 200 yards of brown (or whatever color you like) and 100 yards of any contrasting color. You will also need a size 6 crochet hook.
Work Soles as follows working 1 section Brown and 1 section in Contrasting Color.
Sizes 7-9-11.
Directions are given for size 7, other sizes are given in brackets.
Ch 20, (22-24) work 2 s c in 2nd st from hook, 2 s c in next st, 1 s c in each of the next 15 sts (17-19) 2 s c in next st, 3 s c in next st, working on the other side of ch, 2 s c in next s c, 1 s c in each of the next 15 sts, (17-19) 2 s c in next st, 1 s c in same space with 1st 2 s c, join.
2nd Round-Ch 1, 1 s c in same space, 2 s c in each of the next 2 s c, 1 s c in each of the next 17 s c, (19-21) 2 s c in each of the next 6 s c, 1 s c in each of the next 17 s c, (19-21) 2 s c in each remaining s c, join.
3rd Round-Toe: Ch 2, 1 d c in same space, 2 d c in each of the next 2 sts, 1 d c in each of the next 9 sts, (10-11) 1 s c in each of the next 12 sts, (13-14) 2 s c in each of the next 7 sts, (8-9) 1 s c in each of the next 12 sts, (13-14) 1 d c in each of
the next 9 sts, (10-11) 2 d c in each remaining st of toe, join. Work 1 round of s c even, break yarn and work another sole in same manner. Crochet the 2 soles together with a row of s c, break yarn. Insert an inner sole if desired.
Upper Section-With Brown, ch 9, work 8 s c on ch, ch 1 to turn each row.
2nd Row-1 s c in 1st s c, 1 double loop st in each of the next 7 s c, (Double Loop st: wind yarn over index finger twice, insert hook in st, draw yarn through pulling yarn from under finger, drop loops from finger, letting them fall to right side of work and complete s c).
3rd Row-1 s c in each st. Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows 9 times, then work 1 more row of loop sts.
23rd Row-Start decreasing for toe, skip the 1st s c, 1 s c in each remaining st.
24th Row-1 s c in 1st s c, loop st in each remaining st. Repeat 23rd and 24th rows twice, then work 18 more rows even.
47th Row-2 s c in 1st st, 1 s c in each remaining st.
48th Row-1 s c in 1st s c, loop st in each remaining st. Repeat 47th and 48th rows twice. Work 22 (24-26) more rows even, break yarn, leaving about a 7 inch length, thread needle and sew short ends together.
With right side of work towards you, attach Yellow at back at straight edge and work 1 s c in each row, break yarn. With Brown, sew to sole.
VAMP-With Yellow, ch 10, 1 s c in 2nd st from hook, * ch 1, skip 1 st, s c in next st, repeat from * 3 times.
2nd Row-Ch 1, turn, 1 s c in 1st s c, * ch 1, 1 s c in next s c, repeat from * 3 times. Repeat 2nd row until work measures 4 ½ inches, break yarn.
Attach Brown and working all around vamp, work 1 s c and ch 1, skipping 1 row at sides and 1 st at ends, working 1 s c, ch 1, 1 s c in each corner s c at top, break yarn. Sew vamp in position leaving 7 rows at top free.
With Brown, ch 15, with wrong side of slipper towards you, insert needle in s c row next to vamp, work s c in each s c row around top of slipper, ch 15, break yarn. Draw the ch 15 through each side of vamp and tie as illustrated.
