Vintage Diamond Engagement Rings

If you are planning on getting engaged then your thoughts are probably on what kind of ring to get the woman of your dreams. Instead of going into any jewelry store that you pass on the street you might want to consider an antique diamond engagement ring. Not only will it be unique and have charm, they are less expensive and often have better craftsmanship. They will become an instant heirloom and leave her with a feeling of sophistication and longevity.

Choosing an engagement ring can be a very difficult experience. It can seem like theres a million choices and quite frankly many of them all seem almost exactly the same to the untrained eye. How about something different? Something more unique? How about a vintage diamond engagement ring?

When considering a vintage diamond engagement ring you should think about the personality of your lady. Is she a quirky unique person? Does she enjoy vintage things and vintage jewelry in general? If so then a vintage engagement ring may be a much more suitable ring than a modern diamond engagement ring.

On the other hand if your lady is the type that must have everything up to the date and in the latest fashion then she most likely won't see the beauty in a vintage engagement ring. I think, hopefully, you should know which type of woman the woman you are going to marry is!

A vintage engagement rings are the most charming and unique rings in many peoples opinion. When choosing a vintage engagement ring you should consider the many different eras that an engagement ring can come from. Each era has it's own specific style which differs greatly from the next.

The Victorian Antique Era which falls between 1835 and 1900 - The rings of this era are most often set in yellow or rose gold. They often are simple and elegant but they can also be very intricate in design. Many of these rings feature a row of diamonds that are cut with an extra facet on the bottom. Although many rings from this period include pearls I suggest avoiding these rings because pearls can easily become damaged with daily wear and of course an engagement ring is usually worn daily!

The Edwardian Era which falls between 1900 and 1920 - Platinum rose to it's height of popularity during this era. If you know your gal has a thing for platinum then the Edwardian Era it is! The rings were usually lacy and brilliant sapphires were usually used along with the diamonds.

The Art Deco Era which falls between 1920 and 1930 - The roaring 20's were an exciting time and the engagement rings of the time reflect this! They usually have colorful contrasting gemstones. This era is often considered to be the most popular era in vintage engagement rings.

Diamonds were not always used in vintage engagement rings unlike today when almost all engagement rings are diamond centric. But that being the case I think you should seek out the engagement rings that do have diamonds because they have more value and will be in better shape. Other gemstones can become cracked while diamonds are of course incredibly strong and durable.

Many replica rings may replicate the style of a vintage ring but these replicas do not come close to the real quality and character of a vintage ring. You do not want a replica and certainly your lady will not want a replica! You want the real thing!

A vintage diamond engagement ring is old. But more importantly it is timeless and unique. This is a great reflection on the love you share with your lady. Do you want just another modern ring that looks almost exactly like all the rest or do you want something truly special?
