Christmas is fast approaching, so use some vintage Christmas fabric to make shabby chic and retro gift tags for all of your gifts.

These simple shabby chic gift tags are easy to make, perfect fo wedding gifts, Easter gifts, Christmas gifts, and almost any occasion you need a beautiful hand made gift tag.

Kids can also make their own fabric gift tags.

To Make You Own Vintage Fabric Gift Tags You Will Need:

Vintage fabric

Canvas

Safety Pin

Waterproof ink pen

Scissors

Pinking sheers

Hole punch

Ribbon

Fabric glue

Interfacing

The first step is to cut out as many tags as you want. These tags should be small rectangles ct out of yoru vintage or shabby chic fabric.

Each rectangle should be 2 inches wide and 3 to 4 inches long. Now, trim one end as follows: cut each corner off on one end only to create the tag shape.

Now, take your canvas fabric, in any color you want, and cut out small rectangles that are 1 inch tall and 2.5 inches wide. This is a great time to use those pinking sheers.

Cut out a matching piece of interfacing for each small canvas rectangle. If you are making a ton of tags, then simply iron the canvas onto a large sheet of interfacing and then cut the small rectangles out.

By the way, use a medium to heavy raft weight interfacing.

Now, on each piece of canvas you can write "To:" and "From:" and the names.

Now, to attach the canvas to the vintage fabric gift tags you have a few options.

I like to take some fabric glue and glue the canvas onto the shabby chic gift tags. Now, take a cute little safety pin or even an oversized safety pin and pin the canvas to the vintage fabric tag right at the top of the canvas.

Even if you skip or use the fabric glue the canvas will look like it is held on the shabby chic gift tag by the safety pin.

Now, punch a hole in the end of the gift tag that you cut the angles off of.

You can install a grommet in there if you want.

Take a 8 inch piece of twine and tie it into a knot.

Slip one end of the loop through the hole on the shabby chic fabric gift tag and pull the other end through the inside of the loop to attach it.
