Vintage Flower Dresser Hardware

Ann Siper
I love vintage dressers, outdated dresser, and any dresser in need of a good vintage makeover. Vintage hardware and reproduction hardware can be rather expensive though! You can make these colorful vintage flower drawer pulls for mere dollars, probably less than $10, and in any color you want.

These simple vintage flower drawer pulls would also work well on kitchen cabinets, bathroom cabinets, and on nursery furniture. The sky is the limit and you can customize your vintage flower drawer pulls to match any décor and color!

To Make These Vintage Flower Drawer Pulls You Will Need:

Felt

Needle

Thread

Drawer Pulls that have only one hole

No Fray Product

Now, this project will work best on vintage hardware that has only one screw holding it in place. Handles are not the best; look for dressers or drawers that have a single knob to open them.

Now, you need to choose your fabric next. Sturdy or thick fabric like felt or wool will work best. If you want to use a thin or lightweight fabric then all you need to do is iron on a fusible interfacing to the back of the fabric and then you are ready to cut it out.

Now, you will need to watch this video to see how to make these thick fabric flowers. In the video I show you how to cut out your fabric and assemble the flower.

The basic template is a daisy outline. You will need two large daisies and four small daisies.

Once you fabric flower is cut out and assembled you will want to stitch it together in the center.

Use a heavy-duty thread, like a quilting thread to ensure your hand made vintage flower drawers pulls stand the test of time.

Once your vintage fabric flower is sewn together you will want to apply some no fray product to the edges of the flower petals. This will keep your fabric from fraying. Felt will not need this step.

Now, once the no fray has dried you are ready to install your vintage fabric flower drawer pulls. Simply remove the original knob.

Place the fabric flower over the hole. Now, slip your knob back in place and then insert the screw.

The knob and screw will hold this vintage flower embellishment to your knob in place.

If you have boring metal knobs on your vintage dresser than try replacing them with glass knobs. You can also paint the plain old knobs to really stand out like the center of a daisy. A nice vintage yellow would work well!!
