Use some of your own Vintage Record Covers ot make this fun and easy clock or go scouting at your local flea market for some fun old Vintage Record Covers.
You can also new record covers if you do not have any Vintage Record Covers.
To Make a Clock Out of a Vintage Record Cover You Will Need:
One Vintage Record Cover
Clock Kit
Wooden Numbers or Checker pieces with numbers written on them
Glue
Power Drill
Battery (Probably AA)
Now, I always come across great Vintage Record Cover. I even find Vintage Record Covert the flea market every summer. Each of these would be perfect to make into this simple clock.
Drill a small hole in the middle of the Vintage Record Cover. This will be for your clock kit, so you may want to take a look at that and see if there are any size condition for this small hole. You don't have to center the clock face; you could offset it for some visual interest.
Now, you are ready to install your clock kit on the Vintage Record Cover. Follow the direction on the clock kit box. Each kit will be slightly different. I find clock kits at the hardware store, the home improvement store, and almost every single arts and craft store out there. I recommend a clock kit that runs on a battery so that you do not have to have a cord hanging out of the back of the Vintage Record Cover, but that is complexly up to you.
Now, some clock kits will come with numbers, but you may find that they are too big for this Vintage Record Cover project.
You can use these great wooden music notes sold at the arts and craft store for this if you want. I like to paint them out in black, or a contrasting color that will really show on the Vintage Record Cover, glue them on and really make this look great! You could also glue them on checker pieces and then glue those on the Vintage Record Cover clock.
You could also buy wooden cut out in the shape of stars. Go ahead and paint them out in their colors. When they dry you can glue on some smaller wooden cutout numbers. Paint these in all the same color like white, red, or yellow to tie the Vintage Record Cover piece together.
Pop a battery into your clock kit and you can now hang your Vintage Record Cover clock on the wall. If you are hanging it in a family room why not hang it where everyone will see it! This will be a really conversation starter when you have friends over!
Just remember, you can make this Vintage Record Cover clock with any sized cover! Don't count out those great 45 record covers!
