The first sep is to measure how long and tall your vintage shutters are. For each Vintage Shutter Garden Planters you will need two identical vintage shutters. If your Vintage Shutter Garden Planters will be backed up against a wall you could have a 2X12 or some other board cut out to the same size and use that for the back.

Now, you need to buy one 2X10 or 2X12 and have it cut to the same length as your shutters. While you are at the home improvement store have a piece of the same material cut to make the two sides. Theses should be as wide and tall as the opening on the sides of the planter.

To assemble your Vintage Shutter Garden Planter simply pre drill holes in the "bottom" of the shutter (one of the sides now will be called the bottom).

Pre drill holes into the side of the 2X12 that align with this. Use screws to attach the two. Repeat on the back side.

Now, slip in the side pieces and pre drill holes through the bottom, fronts, and ad back of the Vintage Shutter Garden Planter to hold them in place.

Now, to install the feet simply turn the Vintage Shutter Garden Planter over on the eground. Drill four to holes, one in each corner of the bottom of the planter.

Now, screw in your fence post finials. They should already have a large screw in them.

Turn the Vintage Shutter Garden Planter over and stand it on its feet. Now, lay your plastic planter beds in the wood planter. Marker where the drain holes are. Use your power drill to drill these holes to allow for drainage.

Remove the plastic planters and primer the whole piece out in an exterior grade primer. An oil based primer will work as well.

Once the primer dries you can add a coat of paint in any color you choose!

Tip: Longer Vintage Shutter Garden Planters will need support feet in the middle as well. You could also us castors in place of the wood finial posts so your Vintage Shutter Garden Planters can be mobile!

Replace the plastic long planters and fill with potting soil and your favorite garden plants!

You are finished with your Vintage Shutter Garden Planters!
