Ok, so the first thing you need to do is to create a flat back on the vintage wood baby block. You might consider that they already have four flat sides, but if you use one of those, then you will not be able to grip onto the vintage wood baby block to pull open the drawer.
So, use your jigsaw to cut away one of the corners of the cube. This should be a small cut, about ½ in at most. You want your cube to have a new flat back to rest on that will allow your hand to easily grip the wood baby block and pull.
Now, repeat this step on each vintage wood baby block to create the baby nursery drawer pulls.
Now on the back of each vintage wood baby block you will need to drill a hole for the screw. The back is the flat edge you jigsawed away.
Make a marker and make a dot in the center of each baby nursery drawer pull.
Now, use your power drill to pre drill these holes about half way through the wood baby block. This will keep your vintage wood baby block from splitting when you install it as hardware on the nursery dresser, changing table, or any other furniture you have in your nursery.
Now, if you are using pre existing holes in your nursery furniture, then you can simple slide you screw in through the hole in the dresser first. Now, slip on the vintage wood baby block and slowly screw it in place. This the baby block on until tight and firm.
If you do have existing hole sin your nursery furniture, then you can simply use your power drill to make some.
Tip: lay out some blue painter's tape in the spots you wish to drill your holes. Mark a dot where the hole needs to be. Drill the holes, and then remove the tape. The painter's tape will keep a nice smooth finish on the outer finish of your nursery furniture.
Now, before you install you baby themed vintage wood block hardware you could paint on a coat or two of clear acrylic spray paint. This will protect the warm finish and worm out look on your vintage wood baby blocks you used for this craft project.
Enjoy!
