Not only are many animals being abused but some are being singled out solely upon their breed. Pit Bulls are one of these unlucky breeds that are judged by their breed than by their individual nature and personality and are often shunned or destroyed. It is a popular underground event to have vicious dog fights where the animals battle each other until one cannot fight any longer and is killed by the winner. The winner lives to repeat this performance until they become the unlucky one and lose a match.
We can protest by posting banners and information on the internet as well as by educating others about this inhumane problem. The internet is a big community and has a large audience if you know where to go to get your information out. Not only by being faced by the facts do people come to realize that animal rights need to be stood up for, but pictures too can be a haunting but memorable lesson.
There is a big problem with animal testing still these days, but we can help get rid of this unethical practice by refusing to use any product that has been made from or tested on any animal. Use only those products that have been labeled as "No Animal Testing". Tests can range from exposing an animal (rat, bunny or other small mammal) to a product for exposed periods of time to see if there is any reaction all the way to smearing a poor little rabbit's eyes with a styling product that burns they eyes as soon as it makes contact, repeatedly, day after day, in order to see how long it will take the little victim to go blind.
There is also another type of abuse called hoarding, it is committed without the knowledge or purpose of harming the animal and not knowing they are putting the animal(s) is danger by forcing them to live in unsanitary conditions. This is also referred to as "collecting" and someone who does this is known as a "collector". The animals are often kept in poor to extremely unhealthy living conditions often severely injured due to fights for dominance. When reported to authorities, the owner has a choice to give the animals over to the officers or have them immediately seized. They are taken to a veterinarian and cleaned up, given shots and in more extreme cases given much-needed surgeries from neglect or fighting with the other animals and found happy and loving homes with people that have their best interest in mind.
Please have your pet spayed or neutered to reduce to overpopulation of our domesticated pets, this will reduce the overcrowding in our local animal shelters and greatly reduce the number of innocent pets that are destroyed each year because their time has run out in the shelter. If your pet does have babies, please make sure you screen potential homes very carefully to make sure that the best care is taken of them. Animals cannot speak for themselves, you might just be their only hope, so report any animal neglect or abuse cases to the proper authorities as soon as you notice there is a problem, don't wait.
