If you are looking to take violin lessons in Staten Island, New York, you have a number of options. While the larger national music teaching firms like Encore Music Lessons or Musika only service Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens, there are affordable local alternatives:

Richmond Music Center

Richmond Music Center, located at 25 Page Avenue, offers violin lessons for students of all ages, as well as music in all instruments, including the voice; music education classes; and music therapy classes. Lessons, private or group, culminate in a recital at Carnegie Hall. There is also a special Kindermusik program for children up to seven years old that affords them musical appreciation and instruction.

Established twenty years ago, Richmond Music Center also sells and repairs violins and other musical instruments; which is advantageous of you lose or damage your violin during the course of instruction. Their official retail hours are Monday through Thursday 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. You can receive a complimentary consultation regarding violin lessons by calling 718-967-4686. For more information, view their official website here.

Dr. Trogan's Music School

Dr. Trogan's Music School has been providing music lessons to Staten Islanders for 49 years, and count actresses Alyssa Milano of Who's the Boss? and Charmed fame as well as Kate Burton, mostly recently on FX's Rescue Me and ABC's hit medical drama Grey's Anatomy, as former students. The School offers violin instruction, as well as instruction in all instruments, including voice lessons, and their services are available to all age three and up, regardless of the level of previous instruction.

They are located at 1861 Victory Boulevard (near Bradley Avenue), and an initial appointment can be scheduled by calling 718-981-5418 between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m., seven days a week. For more information, check out their official website here.
