Virgin Hunting Serial Killer Couple, Fourniret and Olivier Go on Trial

Sitting with bowed heads behind a bullet proof glass, Michel Fourniret and wife Monique Olivier were put on trial for the rape and murder of 7 girls and young women. They went virgin hunting and would rape and then murder their victims. Charleville-Meziers, France has in its court a notorious, self admitted serial killer.

Dubbed the "Ogre of the Ardennes" Fourniret said that he and his wife Monique Olivier met in 1980 and made a pact with each other. Fourniret would kill Olivier's first husband. In return, Olivier would go hunt for virgins for Fourniret. He said that he beat Olivier frequently.
In essence down playing Olivier's role in the brutal crimes.

The trial started with the 1987 murder of Isabelle Laville. A 17 year old from Burgandy. Fourniret and Olivier lured the girl into their car. Fourniret then grabbed the girl by the hair questioning her about her virginity. When the girl said she was still a virgin, the serial killer drugged her and they took her home.

Once home, Olivier performed oral sex on Fourniret, followed by Fourniret raping and strangling the young girl. The serial killer would later toss her body down a well. Other alledged murders listed by officials followed this same pattern.

Presumeably the serial killer started his rampage in 1987 and was caught in 2003. His undoing was a 13 year old girl that managed to free herself and get to police.

A separate investigation is underway to see if Fourniret is responsible for the death of British student Joanna Parrish in France in 1990. A further probe is looking into the murder of a robber that Fourniret knew from prison.

It is thought that Fourniret talked the robber's girlfriend into showing him where her boyfriend buried the money. Once she did, it's thought that he murdered her, stole the money and bought a chateaus in the Ardennes and a house in Belgium.

Fourniret started the first day in court by holding up a piece of paper to the judge. It read "My lips are sealed if the thre is no closed door hearing." He also handed the judge a document that was said to contain an explanation of why Fourniret was boycotting the court. The judge did not respond to his antics.

The trial of the virgin hunting, serial killer couple, Michel Fourniret and Monique Olivier, is thought to take 2 months.
