Virgin Mobile Texter's Delight: The Cheapest Unlimited Texting & E-Mail on the Market

Robert Borden
For me, having a cell phone is essential. I don't have a land line telephone in my home, so my cell phone is literally my connection to my friends, family, and the world around me. Over the past few years, as more and more of my loved ones have gotten smartphones, I've noticed that more and more of my communication with them has been via text message or e-mail as opposed to voice calls. This makes a cell phone with unlimited texting and e-mail service a must for me. I have bad credit, so I try to stick with pre-paid cell phones so that I don't have to put down a cash deposit to get service. Unfortunately, unlimited texting plans are usually expensive from pre-paid companies, and e-mail service usually requires a separate data plan which adds even more money to the monthly bill.

Recently, I decided I was spending too much money on my Verizon pre-paid cell phone so I began to shop around the other pre-paid cell phone companies. I ended up on the Virgin Mobile website, and I was very surprised to see they were offering a new "Texter's Delight" plan. This plan offers unlimited texts, multimedia messages, and e-mails for just $19.99 per month. You can also make voice calls for just 10 cents per minute. As someone who has shopped for cell phones a lot in the past few years, I can tell you with certainty that the Virgin Mobile Texter's Delight plan is the absolute cheapest way to have a cell phone with unlimited texting and e-mail for those who don't make a lot of voice calls.

For people who don't need unlimited service, Virgin Mobile also offers a $14.99/month Texter's Delight plan that includes up to 1,000 messages. If you plan to use your phone for e-mail, be careful with this plan since you get docked for 2 messages for each e-mail (one for the e-mail alert which lets you know you have a new message, and another one when you actually view the e-mail). The Virgin Mobile Texter's Delight plan can be used on any Virgin Mobile cell phone, but consider getting one with a keyboard like the new LG Rumor 2 if you want to get the most out of your plan. You can switch to a different plan at anytime without penalty when you use Virgin Mobile, so you won't need to sign any long-term contracts and can change to a different calling plan as your needs change.
