As it is now, and has been for the entire history of American Penology Pratices and Philosophies inmates and ex-inmates have no voice. They have always been used as a political football in order to enhance the political agenda of whatever politician needs a platform plank to get elected. The abolishment of the death penality is very important to the social health and well being of our country as well, as the economics of a failed system. But haveing the right to vote would give the incarcerated and their families a voice in society and have an effect on the way prisons are operated. Because of not so smart chioces that i made in my life I have served 20+ years in several different prisons, beginning with Federal prison in 1958 @ 17 years old. I have experienced the results of the reformer era, the lock-em-up and throw away the key mentality. Nothing has changed in those 50 years accept the n
