Both Bob McDonnell of Virginia and Chris Christie of New Jersey have stated publicly and through their websites that they intend to cut income taxes in their respective states. Christie's website states very plainly "I will cut New Jersey's income taxes across the board for all tax payers". Now wait just a minute! You can't just go around letting people keep more of the money they earn. This sort of thing can only lead to citizens out running amuck spending irresponsibly. There will probably be a waiting list at the local restaurants, what with people eating out once or twice a month. The gas stations will be overrun with those pesky people who have decided to take a short trip with their new found windfall. This will undoubtedly cause the temperature of the planet to increase by another degree over the next 100 million years. The appliance store will probably be a disaster to with everybody trying to buy a flat screen T.V., or maybe a home theater system to go with it. Hey, who's going to make all this stuff that people are buying anyway. What a disaster this will turn into.
Bob McDonnell's web site says "We need to send a clear message that Virginia is open for business, with a pro-free enterprise climate that stands out because of low taxes...". That's just great. New businesses opening, and existing businesses employing new people. Where will it stop? More crowds at the shopping malls and movie theaters. If you let McDonnell get away with this in Virginia, what will keep businesses from other states from relocating to Virginia. Other states will have to follow this trend of creating productive business climates to encourage their businesses to stay. What a horrible cycle this could start.
Mr. Obama, there must be some kind of government program you can create that will put an end to this madness. Maybe we could impose a federal tax on these states and redistribute the money to the other states with high taxes and unemployment. Oh wait, you've tried that already. Who are these people anyway? Don't they know that the states are supposed to cede their power to the all encompassing wisdom of a centralized federal government? These radicals must be stopped . If this catches on, the next thing you know they will be talking about freedom and liberty, or even the right to pursue happiness. Be very careful Mr. Obama. Be very careful.
