The toughest part of the Virginia Tech schedule is going to come in November, when they have to play against three highly ranked teams in back-to-back weeks. No. 16 Georgia Tech, No. 18 North Carolina, and No. 13 Miami are their three straight opponents, and then they end the regular season against Virginia. If they make it into the 2010 ACC Championship Game, that would be on the first weekend in December, and a win in that game would guarantee a spot in one of the BCS bowl games. If they can do that, and sweep through their regular season schedule, they stand a great chance at making it into the national championship game.
The major problem for Virginia Tech right now, is that they started the 2010 regular season so far down in the rankings. It means that they are going to need some of the teams ahead of them to lose a game or two along the way, especially the likes of Alabama, Ohio State, and Florida, which seem to control the minds of many voters around the country. They will know for a fact that only one of the SEC powerhouses can end up undefeated, but beyond that, they will just have to focus on their own schedule and what they can control. It should certainly be an exciting season in ACC play.
