Virginia Tech Shooting Caught on Video by Student

A Courageous Soul Records a Heinous Act

Today at Virginia Tech the deadlist school shooting known took place. This story has been covered already by multiple people here. However, once branch of the story hasn't been told yet. This horrendour shooting was caught on tape by a student by the name of Jamal Albarghouti.

According to CNN, Jamal Albarghouti said he was walking across campus at about 7:15 am. to meet with an adviser. Jamal Albarghouti was unaware of the first attack that left one dead. He was, however, now going to be present for the second attack.

Jamal Albarghouti was located about 200 feet from Norris Hall when, according to Jamal Albarghouti and CNN, a man started shouting for everyone to get on the ground. As soon as Jamal Albarghouti knew it, police officers were rushing into the scene and drawing their own guns.

Jamal Albarghouti had this to say about the scene as soon as he realized what truly was going on:

"When I saw the policemen taking their guns out, then I knew that this was serious." (Jamal Albarghouti to CNN).

Jamal Albarghouti then dropped to the ground, scared of being hit by a stray bullet. However, the quick thinking student quickly took out his cell phone to capture the dramatic shooting on video. This video essentially could be used as evidence for the future if there is a case.

In the video, Jamal Albarghouti caught police officers drawing their guns. Shots can be heard on the video as well, which can create a shiver down your spine if you think about the sheer fear the students in the vicinity must feel. Imagine waking up to bullets running through your walls, the sounds of screaming bullets right outside the door, and the cries of your peers as they shake in fear for their lives. The most butal shooting took place outside of Norris Hall-- the engineering science and mechanics building.

Another student that was in class during the shooting had this to say to CNN:

"They were telling us to put our hands above our head and if we didn't cooperate and put our hands above our heads they would shoot. I guess they were afraid, like us -- like the shooter was going to be among one of us." (Tiffany Otey, a student, to CNN).

This shooting is still strongly under investigation. To see the cell phone video go to http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/04/16/vtech.witness/index.html, the video link is in the third paragraph down.
