Bryce Resort has been in operation for 35 years and just a short drive from the Washington DC area. Because it is one of the smaller resorts, it is a great place to come and learn to ski and snowboard without having to deal with crowds of people. The trails here are mostly geared for beginner and intermediate skiers, but the more experienced will have a good time as well. They have 8 trails with 5 lifts 2 chair lifts, 1 surface lift, 2 carpet lifts and they have night skiing also, plus snowboarding and tubing. Massanutten is a nice, family friendly mid sized resort with 14 trails with 5 chair lifts, one of which is a quad for both day and night skiing and snowboarding as well as tubing. There is also a terrain park. Snowboarding is allowed on all 14 trails as well as the park. With the foru great resstaurants on site, you will not need to worry when you need a brake from the slopes and some food to recharge your batteries. They will arrange reservations for you at either a hotel or condo, which ever suits your needs.

The Homestead has so many things to do for a winter vacation. In addition to skiing, there are 9 trails and 5 lifts, you can enjoy ice skating at the Olympic Size rink, snowbording, half pipe, snowshoeing and Nordic/cross country skiing. And when you feel like a more restful activity, they have horse drawn sleigh rides.
Lodging and dining are right on the site and you cannot do any better. The room rates start at $165 a night, kids under 18 stay free in the same room and under 6 they also get to eat for free. This is a very family friendly resort, indeed. Now for the dining. You can choose from
The Dining Room. This is the most formal of the restaurants, with jacket and tie required for dinner.
The 1776 Grille There is a $25 surcharge here, but you do get piano music with your dinner. No denim allowed.
Sam Snead's Tavern is the relaxed place to dine, with a full bar and you can get great barbecue.
And, of course the President's Lounge, where you can relax with a good drink and good friends.
