This is one astrology native that is often found working in the literary arts. Words are fodder for analytics, and this is attractive to the Virgo intellect. . Placing the words in their proper position; organizing the separate pieces that go into the word art engages the Virgo capabilities. Virgo natives are often seen involved with astrology, too.
Virgo natives enjoy helping others. They make good parents, but don't like to be taken for granted in what they do for others. If they know they are appreciated, it goes a long way.
Part of the function of the discriminating mind of Virgo is the differentiation of physical self and the sacred world. Virgo the Virgin, and Virgin Mary symbolism indicates a link to the spiritual aspects of life.
As in any sign, Virgo can go to extremes. Along with the perfectionism of the nature, they are known for being ultra hygienic. However, the opposite may be true. The purity of a Virgo swings both ways. Extremes of either direction are a form of purity. When a Virgo is a sloppy person, it goes all the way, too. There are no in betweens - only either, or.
Self-confidence is not a strong suit for Virgo. The same critical regard that they show outwardly is also happening internally, which keeps the self-belief on the low side.
Constantly analyzing, the critical factor is simply the modus operandi for this sign. The intellect is high, and sometimes it gives the appearance of being impenetrable.
Conservative, quiet, and thoughtful, the astrology of Virgo is represented as a Virgin - pure and untouched. The alchemical process is distillation - a method of purification.
Virgo rules the astrological sixth house, which is about work and health. An angular affliction to Virgo is often sited as the basis for becoming a hypochondriac. The constantly critical vigil as applied to health issues is an integral part of this native.
As modest as this sign is, it gets the spotlight early on during the summer when the Dog Star Sirius enters the picture. Isis, the representative goddess of Sirius, is equated with Mary, the virgin mother of Jesus. So Virgo is activated somewhat at the time of the Summer Solstice, and the symbolism remains prominent through approximately August 10.
Shortly after the Dog Star, Sirius moves on, Virgos get to rule most of the month of September. The planetary rulership is Mercury, which is the planet of communication.
Virgo astrology is describes Virgo as an Earth sign, mutable, and is categorized as feminine.

I have a lot of Virgo friends, I'll have to pass this on to them! great job!
Lorraine, I'm sure there are self confident Virgos. ie.) with Leo rising or something like that. The Sun sign, as described in this article, is really, really general. People are complex like snowflakes. There are no two alike.
Hmmm. I know some VERY self-confident Virgos.
Interesting as always.
Good article! I live in a world of Virgos!
