Pitch and Sync Error Fix

The Portland Journal
For those budding enthusiastic DJ's out there and the Pros who are using Virtual DJ software to practice, or ply their trade in the music entertainment world... you may have figured out a slight problem with synchronizing tracks.

Well I think I accidentally discovered the answer to the problem, and it was not by going into the configuration features menu on the actual console.

Okay after hours of trawling through website after website and downloading plugins, and tech advice forums, nothing was getting rid of that "oh so annoying" pitching on the cued deck.

To be precise, once a track has been cued for example on deck one, the track laid out over deck two should in theory auto cue with the correct pitch setting once the sync button is clicked... no a horrible pitch bend happens in deck one distorting the track that would otherwise be playing live to your audience. Not very good if you are serving the nightclub masses with their favorite sounds.

So to relieve the problem take a look at your Virtual DJ mixer.

1. To the top of the mixer you will see the scratch button for entering the scratch pad, click it.

2. On entering the scratch pad facility you will see at the bottom two lock symbols either side of 'BEATLOCK'. Make sure these are checked off (grey not yellow).

3. Next move slightly up the scratch pad and you will see three letters S, R and A which represent the mode setting. Make sure you have 'S' switched on, the other two off.

4. Return to the mixer and now try to use the decks... hopefully you will now notice no sync and cue problems.

You must however remember that sticking with tracks that have a similar BPM will have a better sync effect... it is no good trying to sync 100bpm with 170bpm... unless the Chipmunk or Rick Astley effects are what you purposefully desire.

Have fun, I hope I helped solve a little riddle that has been problematic for many Virtual DJ users.
