My eyes behold a vision of beauty
That was once my little girl
It's hard to believe
The young woman standing before me
Is my daughter
I remember being her age
I remember being the vision of beauty
Where did all the years go
Did I raise her right
Will she make good choices
And live a beautiful life
I hope I've been a good example to her
For the years of training have disappeared
No longer the mother of a child
But now her friend
Loving and encouraging
Her on the path of life
So many years spent protecting
It's so hard to let go even a little
For fear of anything
That could bring her harm
Still willing to die
To protect her from this world
Still willing to stay up all night
While she cries and tries
To find her way in life
I'll always be there
When she needs comfort or advice
Watching her grow into a woman
Fulfilling her purpose
And touching other lives
Someday soon
I'll have to let go and set her free
To go into the world and let her life shine
As a vision of beauty of the love she knows
A love I've tried my best to show her
A love that makes you willing to die
So someone else can live
The love I felt the moment she was born
And my eyes beheld
The vision of beauty I held in my arms
That was once my little girl
It's hard to believe
The young woman standing before me
Is my daughter
I remember being her age
I remember being the vision of beauty
Where did all the years go
Did I raise her right
Will she make good choices
And live a beautiful life
I hope I've been a good example to her
For the years of training have disappeared
No longer the mother of a child
But now her friend

So many years spent protecting
It's so hard to let go even a little
For fear of anything
That could bring her harm
Still willing to die

While she cries and tries
To find her way in life
