There are thousands of places of pilgrimage in India. These places are for many religions that are being followed in the vast country of India. One of the most important religions in India is Hindu. The Hindus are around 63% of the total population of India. All the Hindus have strong faith in Lord Ram. That is the reason why the Ayodhya, birthplace of Lord Ram has become one of the prime spots of pilgrimage for all the Hindus. All the Hindus have wish in their hearts to visit Ayodhya at least once in their lifetime. Off late, Ayodhya have become very well known in the world due to the movements of the political parties of India.

Ayodhya is situated in the Northern part of India. Ayodhya is well connected by train from all the major cities of India like Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and Calcutta. There is a direct train from Mumbai that can take you to Ayodhya directly in around 48 hours. Ayodhya was the capital of King Dashrath, who was the father of Lord Ram. City of Ayodhya is located at the shore of River Saryu. River Saryu is considered one of the very holy rivers of India. It is said that this city was constructed by Lord Manu, who was the forefather of Ram. There is a big temple of Lord Ram here in Ayodhya. There is a Babri Masjid just next to this temple. There is a controversy going on between Hindus and Muslims about this place as to weather this was the birthplace of Ram or the Muslim prayer place. There are in all 63 Vaishnav temples, 33 Shiva temples, 36 Muslim Masjids, and 11 Jain temples. So, Ayodhya is a city of temples. There is a ghat made on the River Saryu where Lord Ram was visiting daily for bath. This ghat is known as Ramghat. This ghat is called the main entrance to heaven. It is considered very vital for all Hindus to take a holy deep in the River Saryu exactly at the spot where Lord Ram was taking bath.

There is an ancient Lord Shiva temple, known as Nageshwar temple. In addition to these temples, there are some famous temples like Darshneshwar Mahadev, HanumanGarhi, and Kanakeshwar Mahadev. The half broken structure of Babri Masjid is also worth visiting in Ayodhya. This structure was damaged by the crowd in the year 1994 and is under police protection since then. There are many akhadas run by various Mahants in city of Ayodhya. All the saints are divided in these types of akhadas and stay at their own akhada. Some of the biggest akhadas are of Raghunathdasji, Maniram Baba, and Digambari akhada. You need to stay for around couple of days here so as to cover all the major places and temples of Ayodhya. There are not many hotels available in Ayodhya that can provide all the facilities. However, there are many dharmshalas available for the pilgrims. However, these dharmshalas have very few facilities and hence, is not advisable to stay in them. The best option is to stay at Hotel Ayodhya that is having three star facilities. But, it is necessary to book the hotel accommodation in advance as this is the only good hotel available for stay at Ayodhya. The Indian food is easily available at Ayodhya but nonvegetarian food items and alcoholic drinks are not permitted within the city limits of Ayodhya. Try to plan your visit to Ayodhya in winter months from October to March as summer months are very hot.

Each and every Hindu must visit this holy city of Ayodhya which is a birthplace of Lord Ram. How about planning a visit to Ayodhya during your next visit to India?
