With a history beginning in 1925, and more than a million visitors each year, it is not a surprise to find that the museum is the largest children's museum in the world spanning 400,000 sq ft of hands on experiences to explore. With younger children, expect to spend an entire day. Visiting with young teens, they'll be entertained for an hour or two if not more. The facility has many permanent and rotating exhibits. With special attention and children in mind, you'll find child sized options for just about everything from exhibits of course to soap and paper towels in the restrooms.
While spending the day, there is food service on site or you can bring your own meal. The Children's Museum of Indianapolis provides a family dinning room where you can store your cooler and return to it when you are ready to eat the food you prepared and brought from home.
Some of the most popular special events are seasonal. The Children's Museum hosts a haunted house each year offering light - non-frightening hours for the youngest attendees while late night hours entertain teens through adults. Another popular seasonal event is the Jolly Days during the month of December where many areas of the museum take on a wintry holiday theme. But the largest draw is the sled ride. The museum transforms their front spiral stairwell into a sled ride via carpet slide.
If you plan to visit more than once in a given year, consider a family membership. Not only will you save money but you will also receive the museum's newsletter, as well as receive membership benefits in the form of free carousel rides, discounts, early admissions, preview days and members-only events.
Don't miss spending some time at the Children's Museum. Children will laugh, play and explore while adults will be amazed. They truly think, plan and see through the eyes of children. Hopefully you will too after a visit to this magical place.

Post a CommentA truly wonderful museum. I have memories of their annual haunted houses for Halloween, some of which were very scary (to me, anyway, but I scare easily).
Very cool, thanks for the review.
