Take Kids to Visit Easter Bunny

JUNEANN REED
The Malls are likely to be the places you would take your kids or grandkids in the Des Moines metro area.

Merle Hay Mall
Merle Hay Shopping Center
is located at Douglas and Merle Hay on the northwest side of Des Moines. It is easily accessible from I-35/80 from either the Douglas exit on the west or the Merle Hay exit on the north.

The Easter Bunny is located on the lower level, near the center of the mall. Kids will love the display and the friendliness of the Easter Bunny. Photos can be purchased of your child's visit. A small train is also available for kid rides. They love to wave at mom, dad, grandpa or grandma as the train whistles past.

Hours to visit the Bunny are from 12 noon to 8:00, with some bunny breaks at various times during the day. On Sunday, he'll be there from 2:00 to 5:30.

Sophie Bunny is also available to read books to children. Sophie's a robot type of bunny located near the food court on the northern end of the mall.

Valley West Mall
Valley West Mall
is located at Valley West Drive and University in West Des Moines. This street is also known as 35th Street in West Des Moines. Valley West can be reached by exiting I-235 [through town interstate] on 35th [or Valley West Drive.] It can also be reached by exiting I-35 at University or I-235 and heading eastbound.

The Easter Bunny is located on the lower level of Valley West Mall in the center court. [J.C. Penny is located directly behind the bunny's area.] A train is also available for the young children to ride. The Easter Bunny will be at the mall from 10:00 until 8:00 p.m. On Sunday, he will be available from 11:00 to 6:00.

Other malls in the metro area also have Easter Bunny visits. Jordan Creek Town Center, western area of West Des Moines and a more up-scale mall, always has a variety of activities going on. South Ridge Mall, on the southern side of the metro area also has an Easter Bunny. South Ridge has a real carousel near the front entrance that children will also love to ride.

Most every Easter Bunny gives the kids a little memento. Either you can take your own photo or you can pay to have your child's photo recorded with the Easter Bunny.

Have fun! Go shopping for some new spring clothes and make a visit to the Easter Bunny. Kids will love to look back in their scrapbooks and remember those fun times each spring.

The Easter Bunny can be scary for a little kid, so don't make an issue if they've been asking to go see him, then suddenly change their mind.
