Aurangabad is situated at the distance of around 220 miles from Mumbai. It is well connected by air, train, and the buses from most of the cities of Maharashtra State. The town of Khuldabad is situated at the distance of only 21 miles from Aurangabad and can be easily reached by bus or the hired cars. Many Muslim saints have been cremated here at Khuldabad. The famous Mogul King Aurangzeb was cremated here after his death in a very simple grave made of plain stone. Even the expenditure of cremating him was also paid from his own earning from writing of the Kuran. One original cloth used by Muslim saint Mohammad Paygambar is also kept here near the grave of Mogul King Aurangzeb. This cloth is taken out once every year on the birthday of Mohammad Paygambar for the view of all pilgrims. Lot of Muslim pilgrims visit this place to see this cloth of Mohammad Paygambar. The atmosphere at this grave of Mogul King Aurangzeb is so peaceful and relaxing that all the visitors would love to pass some time here talking with themselves.
There is one other grave of Muslim saint Hafiz Mohammad, which is situated very near to the grave of Mogul King Aurangzeb. This grave is extremely popular amongst the Muslims as one silver white hair from the beard of Mohammad Paygambar is stored here at this grave. After the death of Muslim saint Hafiz Mohammad, one silver tree was developed here. This silver tree was also bearing the fruits of silver lagdis for some time. These silver lagdis, obtained from the silver tree, are kept here at this place for viewing. Though, this fact will not be believed by the present young generation, it is up to the individual faith. All the Muslims visiting this place perform their holy Namaz here at this grave and consider themselves very lucky for the same..
It may take around four to five hours to visit all the holy places situated at the town of Khuldabad. Hence, if you start by around 7 am from your hotel in Aurangabad, you can certainly reach back to your hotel by around 5 pm or so after your visit to holy town of Khuldabad. There are few small restaurants at the town of Khuldabad, where you can have your lunch. However, it would be better to carry your own packed lunch with you from your hotel only as the quality of food is not very nice at these restaurants. Also, make sure to carry your own supply of drinking water with you as the drinking water available here is hard water, having some harmful salts dissolved in it. There are many hotels available at Aurangabad like Hotel Natraj, Hotel Ashoka, and Hotel Nandanvan.
All these hotels offer three star facilities at the rates of around Rs.1200 ($24) per day for a decent double room per day. The food is no problem here at Aurangabad and most of vegetarian and nonvegetarian food delicacies are easily available at most of the restaurants of the city. Also, make sure to visit the famous caves of Ajanta and Illora during your stay here at Aurangabad. Considering all these facts, you may need to stay for around five days here at Aurangabad to cover most of the site seeing places of this area. It would be better to plan your visit during the winter months as the summer is quiet hot and severe here.
As we really enjoyed our visit to holy town of Khuldabad, I have no hesitation in recommending a visit to this holy town of Khuldabad to all my AC friends and readers during their next visit to India.
