Visit the Island of Anguilla

The island of Anguilla is not exactly a cruise destination, though it is certainly a very attractive vacation destination. As a part of the British West Indies, it has remained relatively undiscovered and beautifully unblemished. It is an English speaking island.

When you visit the island of Anguilla, you will find an island where privacy and tradition are respected. It is not overrun with tourists or the streets crammed with over aggressive salespeople. Some of the other smaller islands that are part of the Anguilla chain include Hat Island, Dog Island, Scrub Island, Seal Island, Sombrero and the Prickly Pear Cays. Anguilla is the most northern island of the Leeward Islands. Due to its small size, a lot of the property on both Anguilla and the other islands are privately owned and/or uninhabited.

If you are looking for a quiet and virtually undisturbed Caribbean vacation, a visit the island of Anguilla may be just what you are looking for. The island offers hotels, cabins and even rentals of personal homes.

Anguilla's climate is pretty typical of the region, maintaining tropical temperatures for a better part of the year. Due to its location, Anguilla occasionally may experience severe weather due to Hurricanes or other ocean-based weather systems. Unlike many other islands the trade winds are from the northeast, which tends to keep it drier. The wettest part of the year tends to be in September and October.

Your passport is likely needed to travel to Anguilla. You will also need to show proof that you plan to leave the island. Your plane ticket or itinerary will suffice. Book your reservations as far in advance as possible. A lot of the people that own property on Anguilla do visit throughout the year and will take priority over rental reservations.

Though Anguilla is not a tourist trap (and thank goodness for that!), there is no lack of activities and adventures for your enjoyment. The white sand beaches are breathtaking in their beauty, and the water is crystal clear.

A lot of the entertainment type activities on the island occur in or around the water. You can scuba dive to your heart's content and even view up to five different shipwreck sites. The people of Anguilla also enjoy competitive sport such as speedboat and sailboat racing. The island almost always has some sort of celebration, competition or festival going on. You definitely do not want to miss this!
