Shuttle Launch Experience
This newest attraction at the Kennedy Space Center will expose you to the sights and sounds of an actual space shuttle launch. You'll begin by going in to the Shuttle Launch Simulation Facility, a huge six-story structure. You'll continue the activity as you are "prepared" for your launch, listening to a pre-launch briefing, watching the video screens explode into life around you, imitating a real life, dramatic launch. What better way to learn what real astronauts go thru when they are launched into space!
IMAX Films
IMAX theater shows are perhaps one of the most popular types of shows to watch, and the ones at the Kennedy Space Center are definitely no different. Come enjoy two huge IMAX theaters, where the five-story screen and 3D effects will make the ever-changing movies more realistic than one can imagine. You'll always be amazed at the dramatic footage that is shown. Shot by real NASA astronauts on real-life missions, all surrounded by the most amazing and high-tech sound system.
Programs and Specials
The Kennedy Space Center offers more than just exhibits. You can take advantage of the special programs they offer to further enhance your space education. The Astronaut Training Experience offers hands-on training from veteran astronauts and gives you a whole day of real training that will allow you to learn more about space flight than you ever thought possible. For an amazing family adventure, try the two-day program called the Family Astronaut Training Experience. You'll learn about astronaut training, build and launch your very own rockets, and spend time in space stimulator's, as well as much more learning and adventures. These, along with other special programs at the Kennedy Space Center, can be booked online thru their website.
Hours and Prices
The Kennedy Space Center is open almost every day of the year, with the exception of December 25. There may be days, however, they are closed due to launches, so be sure to check their website for more details. Admission for the Kennedy Space Center starts at $38 for adults and $28 for children. These prices include all exhibits, IMAX movies, the Astronaut Hall of Fame, and all space-simulators. Tickets are valid for two-days of use, and are valid within 7 days of purchase.
